Race Gas

I'm going dragging tomorrow and i'm hoping i can get race gas... is it normally 100 octane? How much does it run usually, and how do they achieve that much, do they put lead in it? Is that ok for our cars?

Well I can only get 100 octane around here and it is Unleaded and cost $3.75 a gallon. I hear that you can get a higher octane unleaded fuel on the coasts but I don't know. Leaded is bad for the O2 sensors but I do know peeps with standalone ecu's that don't really use the O2 sensor except for tuning and they run 114 leaded, but not me. 100 is good enough and you should def be able to run full timing with a HIGH concentration of 100 in the tank. Run damn near dry, then put the 100 in. I always know that I have about 50 miles left once the fuel light comes on so I wait about 25 miles into it and then put the race gas in. Good luck

At most race tracks, they have race gas there, some unleaded and some leaded, they should have up to 110 or 114 unleaded!

Crom...the 110 and 114 octane fuels are leaded fuels....most of the tracks have only up to 100 or 103 unleaded fuel...anything above that is leaded and NOT recomended to be used on a car with 02 sensors
